The Asian Community Trust (ACT), Japan's first fund raising-style charitable trust,
was established in 1979 with the purpose of assisting people at the grass-roots level in
Asian developing countries.
Based on funds from the Japanese community, the ACT currently provides a total of around 10,000,000 yen
of assistance funds every year to NGOs and educational institutions in real need of assistance in
various Asian countries.
In its 25 years so far, the ACT has supported projects in more than five
Asian countries, in fields spanning health, medical treatment, education, youth training,
development of rural communities.
Since 2005, the Asian Community Center 21 (ACC21) has been acting as ACT's steering
committee and secretariat, carrying out such activities as the preparation of materials in regards to
assistance objectives for Asian NGOs, reporting and further monitoring of the situation and activities,
as well as information dissemination.
Furthermore, with its approval as a specially authorised charitable fund in 1995,
tax deductions apply to financial donations to ACT.
You too can participate in the development of Asia by being a
member of ACT!
